Rex New

co-founder

Rex New was born and raised in Louisiana. He moved to Los Angeles

in 2005 to attend film school at the University of Southern California. He graduated with honors from the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a B.F.A. in screenwriting. Along with his USC writing partner Nick Turner, Rex New received a Writers Guild Award nomination for co-writing the feature film DANCE CAMP, produced by Jon M. Chu. The movie was YouTube Red's first original film.

New co-founded Shy Ruby Productions for which he has been credited as a writer, director, producer, and editor.

Thia Schuessler

co-founder

Thia Schuessler met Rex New their freshman year of college, when she starred in a play that he wrote for Brand New Theatre, a student-run organization.  Between their shared classes in the USC film school and the very small college honors program,

Schuessler and New developed a partnership that has lasted over a decade. In 2013, they credited "Shy Ruby Productions" on their first short film HOUSESITTER. They made it official in 2015, creating Shy Ruby, LLC. In their six short films, Schuessler has been credited as an actor, writer, director, producer, and editor.
